Citizencon: 2019

Citizencon 2949 was my first industry keynote demo that I was able to work on, it was a fantastic experience and allowed me co-ordinate with members of teams I hadn't previously to help implement their work into design and flow of the keynote demo. With me only having been in my junior design role for 3 months this required me to learn some new aspects of our development process within a very tight deadline, but I was able to adapt to the task at hand and get the work done.

This work brought about a lot of comradery between all those involved, we were in the trenches together to get the job done, but seeing all the fans reactions both live at the show and online in the stream chats made all the hard work and late nights worth it.

Responsibilities: 

  • Set up spawn locations of players and ships for establishing shots

  • Implement AI embarking / disembarking from the ship and spawning inside seats at the end of demo 1

  • Create and connect navsplines for the AI to take off and trigger a cinematic trackview sequence 

  • Set up the AI Valkyrie approach and landing sequence at the ground base for demo 2

  • Use logic triggers to enable the storm to roll in after the player has landed at the ground base

  • Use logic triggers to spawn in the Carrack for the second player and position the Rover to escape in

  • Set up the ship AI spawning as the player attempts to escape the planet and triggering crime stats
